Sources from Sicily have claimed that Arsenal are preparing an astonishing bid for Japan’s and Catania’s highly rated winger Takayuki Morimoto. It was revealed in early 2010 that the Gunners were keeping an eye on the 22 year old but it now seems that Wenger is ready to walk the walk where a transfer move is concerned.
The wingman has made over 80 appearances for the Sicilian side and netted a decent 15 goals in the process although last year his reported transfer fee would have been significantly less at approxiamately £9m.
However, with 2011 looking to be another trophyless season for Wenger’s side a burst of cash will be made available to Wenger yet again to boost the squad depth and add quality in certain areas. For Arsenal fans’ sakes let us hope he uses it.
With Japan’s Morimoto being highly rated, and his age not being a factor, one feels that Wenger may well be ready to buy both a decent player with pedigree and someone who will add a few zeros on the end of their shirts sales statistic on the balance sheet.
