Arsenal Set to Sign South Korean International

Monaco forward Park Chu-Young is set to complete a move to Arsenal this weekend in a deal believed to be worth €3million to €5million.

Park Chu-Young is the South Korea captain; he made over 91 appearances for Monaco and has travelled to London to complete a medical within the next 24 hours. Arsenal have fought off interest from Premier League rivals Fulham and French club Lille.

A deal to Lille was thought to be all but complete after Park completed a medical for them; however he was convinced to travel to London after a call from Arsene Wenger. Both Monaco and Lille are stunned by the move by Arsenal as the deal between the two French clubs had almost been complete.

A second part of the medical had been arranged at Lille, but to their surprise Park did not turn up to take part despite agreeing terms with the French champions.

Lille president Michel Seydoux said: “We haven’t had a telephone call, nothing.
“From what we understand he could be at Arsenal,” the Lille boss said.
“Like Monaco, Lille are baffled,” added Seydoux, adding: “Everything [about his move] had been agreed.”
