Arsenal should spend £20million William Carvalho move in January

The Gunners are reportedly preparing a £20 million bid for Sporting Lisbon midfielder William Carvalho.

It was widely reported that the Arsene Wenger was interested in Carvalho this summer, but a complication with a third party saw the move broke down. That obstacle has now been removed as Lisbon have now bought all of Carvalho’s rights.

If Arsenal are still serious about signing Carvalho, they will be happy to learn of this latest development. The £20m bid that Arsenal are reportedly ready to make could be enough to secure his services.

Arsenal gaffer, Arsene Wenger has previously suggested his team are still lacking a physical presence in midfield and signing Carvalho would help solve that issue.

Sporting Lisbon are now out of the Champions League and that could mean the player will be more inclined to push for a move in January, although he will not be eligible to play for Arsenal in the competition this season.

Signing Carvalho in January would allow him to bed into the Arsenal first team ahead of Mikel Arteta, Abou Diaby and Mathieu Flamini’s contracts expiring at the end of the season.

The Gunners do not want to have to find replacements for all three in the summer, so it makes sense to sort out at last one in January.
