Arsenal striker Robin van Persie could be subject to an auction next summer with the player stalling over current contract talks and numerous parties claiming an interest in the Dutchman.
Despite the striker have a further 24 months on his current deal there have been suggestions that the 28 year old is not happy with the current status of the club, especially after former team mates Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas were allowed to be sold on to Manchester City and Barcelona respectively.
The Arsenal captain has always maintained his commitment to the Emirates despite some dark times however results this season, coupled with the loss of key players looks to be taking its toll on the former Feyenoord trainee and Arsenal could yet again be forced to sell next summer where there will only be a season left on his current deal.
The likes of AC Milan, Manchester City and Russian rich boys Anzhi are all believed to be monitoring van Persie’s situation this season although it appears the experienced frontman would prefer to move to either Italy or Spain if given the choice.
Despite Anzhi’s march into the football limelight, and the purchasing of Samuel Eto’o, they are still some way off plucking the worlds best players. City meanwhile now have a reputation for taking on Arsene Wenger’s students after they graduate, having already snapped up Kolo Toure, Gael Clichy and playmaker Samir Nasri from the North London club’s clutches.
By mid summer next year van Persie will have reached the age of 28. His goal scoring skills will never be questioned but it remains a big question to ask – will Arsenal once again sell one of their stars?
