Arsenal suffer further misery with Wilshere injury setback

Jack Wilshere now looks set to miss England’s Euro 2012 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Wales after he suffered a delay in his recovery.

The Arsenal starlet was hit with an ankle injury in pre-season and was expected to make his return in the next week or so, but his return will now be at least two or three weeks later.

Wenger stated: “He’s in a boot again, so that means he will at least be out for two or three weeks. I don’t know if we are back to square one or for how long he will be out.”

The Frenchman has already lost Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona and the impending departure of Samir Nasri does his midfield no favours.

Wenger is also more limited in his Premier League selection for Sunday’s clash against Manchester United, with Wilshere unfit and Emmanuel Frimpong suspended.

Fabio Capello is another manager losing out on midfield options, with Liverpool’s Steven Gerrard also expected to miss the two England qualifiers that take place on 2 September and 6 September.
