Arsenal have made up their minds on four signings but are still contemplating a further two on two big name midfielders. The North London side are close to deals for Gary Cahill, Christopher Samba, Gervinho, and reported goalkeeping target, Ajax’s Maarten Stekelenburg.
The deal for Gervinho is all but completed however they will need to offer a player as part of the package if they want to land Gary Cahill, Nicklas Bendtner had been mentioned but Owen Coyle is not keen on the Dane. A deal between Samba and Arsenal is reaching the all important stages whilst Ajax are wanting to cash in Stekelenburg as soon as possible with just twelve months remaining on his current deal.
Our souce also claims that Arsenal are after two big signings in midfield although no clue was given as to which players exactly. We are also unsure as to whether these player will be brought in on top of Fabregas and Nasri or whether the captain and Frenchman shall be leaving to raise cash for the newcomers.
One likely candidate reported yesterday was that of Daniele De Rossi who has been linked with a move to the Premiership and is seen as a simple fix to plugging the gap left by Fabregas. The other could be that of West Ham’s Scott Parker who apparently favours a move to Arsenal although Newcastle United’s Joey Barton has been linked recently despite the St. James’ Park club not confirming any offers.
