Speculation regarding a possible move by Arsenal for Bolton Wanderers’ Gary Cahill are yet to disappear with the latest reports from North London suggesting that the Emirates side may be prepared to offer a player plus cash deal to land the Bolton centre back.
Which player Arsenal would remain keen to offer as part exchange was not divulged however one could speculate that it could be one of at least five players that have failed to shine this season. Most notably in defence, it is likely that Wenger would be prepared to swap a defender for Cahill rather that tinker in the midfield.
Gary Cahill is currently valued around £15m and with Wenger’s reluctance in the trabsfer market, the claims do carry some weight with regards to a swap plus cash type of deal. Although highly unlikely that Bolton would want Squillaci as a replacement one could assume that Eboue, the Arsenal right back may be put in the mix.
The right back has been linked with a move to Roma recently and will turn 28 in June and many doubt he would prefer a move to the North of England than a relaxing spell in Serie A. A major concern for Arsenal fans though will be the ongoing fiddling around when it comes to negotiating for top players, too much messing about by Wenger could yet again see another player slip through his hands meaning fans might once again have to settle for second best.
