Arsenal woes deepen with defensive disaster

News has emerged that Arsenal centre-back, Thomas Vermaelen, will now face two months on the sidelines after undergoing surgery for an Achilles injury.

The claims come just two days after Jack Wilshere revealed that he too would be out of the squad until, what looks like, at least November.

The Belgian international suffered an Achilles injury that kept him out of competition for practically all of last season, however this new injury is on his other leg.

New signing, Per Mertesacker, will now have to team up with either Laurent Koscielny or Johan Djourou in the middle of defence, the pair who started the disastrous 8-2 defeat at Old Trafford last week.
