Aston Villa are preparing to lose Stewart Downing to either Liverpool or Arsenal and see Manchester City winger Shaun Wright-Phillips as an appropriate replacement.
The midlands side are under increasing pressure after losing Ashley Young recently to Manchester United and are now likely yo lise Stewart Down within the next fortnight with player keen on a move. For Alex McLeish it will represent the second player to leave in two weeks and although the former Birmingham City manager will gain some decent cash to re-invest, he will have to do so smartly so not to upset the Villa fans.
Shaun Wright-Phillips has always admitted his loyalty to Manchester City since returning although with places if the first eleven hard to come by, he may look to his own future and consider a more to play more first team football.
That will be highly likely if he decides on a move to Villa Park where with Villa losing two wide players in the space of a few weeks will need replenishing with players with immediate effect. Should Aston Villa fail in their approach for Wright-Phillips it is believed a move may be made for Arsenal’s Tomas Rosicky.
