Aston Villa boss, Alex McCleish, is attempting to lure Manchester City midfielder, Adam Johnson, to Villa Park initially on a season-long loan with a view to a permanent deal.
Johnson will be looking to gain more first team experience as England prepare for Euro 2012, and with Samir Nasri soon to join the Citizens, first team spots are only going to become harder to come by.
Johnson already has to contend with the likes of David Silva and compatriot James Milner, so might be tempted by a move to the Villans.
Alex McCleish is in need of one more winger despite the arrival of Charles N’Zogbia, after selling Ashley Young and Stewart Downing to Manchester United and Liverpool, respectively.
Sunderland are also thought to be interested in the 24 year-old, looking at a similar loan deal.
