Aston Villa looking to extend keeper deal

Aston Villa wish to extend the current agreement for their high performing goalkeeper Brad Friedel.

Speaking to the Skysports, Friedel’s agent, Tony McGill, claimed that talks are under way to keep the former USA international at Villa Park despite him now closing in on 40 years of age.

“We are in talks over a new contract, Brad is very happy at Villa, if Brad was not happy, he would not be talking over a new contract.”

A new deal could see the current Villa number one overtake that of Edwin van der Sar of Manchester United, who at 40 years old, will be playing in his last campaign this season.

McGill added.

“I have spoken with chief executive Paul Faulkner and talks are going very well indeed.”
