Aston Villa preparing offers for Scandinavian duo

Henriksen is just one Scandinavian that Aston Villa are believed to be chasing at the momentSources have suggested that Aston Villa are preparing two offers for two of Scandinavia’s youngest bright prospects in Gylfi Sigurðsson and Markus Henriksen.

Former Reading midfielder Sigurðsson joined Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim last summer and has made a decent impact on the side knocking in nine league goals in 33 league matches. The 22 year old also has six international caps to his name for Iceland.

Henriksen meanwhile, is the younger of the two at 19 years old and has been at Norwegian side Rosenborg since 2009. Although still a teenager he has already picked up two international caps for Norway and is likely to feature during the next few international friendlies over the next two weeks.

It is unclear as to what sort of bids, if any, will be made for the pair but it appears that Aston Villa manager Alex McLeish is keen to bolster his midfield squad depth with youth. The main issue will be trying to persuade Hoffenheim to allow them to talk to Sigurðsson with the midfielder having only been with them a season, however Henriksen would be a certain possibility despite facing competition for his signature from Bundesliga side Hamburg.
