Barcelona are in action on Saturday evening as they host Deportivo La Coruna in a battle between the teams sitting top and bottom of La Liga right now.

Barca have a big Champions League game against AC Milan during the week, but after two defeats to Real Madrid last week, they will want to build some momentum and move 14 points clear at the top of the table.

Lionel Messi breaking the deadlock here is at 7/4, which looks to be decent value.

Deportivo haven’t won since January 5 and nothing is expected of them here as they are out at 20/1. In truth, they might just look to avoid a hiding and then focus on the remaining eleven matches after this one.

Also on Saturday, Rayo Vallecano and Espanyol lock horns and Sevilla make the trip to Mallorca, who moved to within four points of safety with a victory last time out.

Malaga are in fourth place at the moment, but need a win at Real Valladolid to ensure they stay there this weekend.

The visiting team haven’t won in their last two matches and Valladolid have only taken maximum points once in their previous six La Liga encounters, so neither side is in the best form.

Moving onto Sunday, Atletico Madrid meet Real Sociedad in what is arguably the pick of the fixtures this weekend.

Atletico are currently in second, but have Real Madrid breathing down their necks, whereas Sociedad sit in sixth and have a chance of Champions League football this campaign.

The home team are considered as the favourites for this one at 4/7 and if at their best, they should win comfortably on Sunday evening.

Sociedad are not a side that are easily beaten though as they are currently on an eight-game unbeaten run, so Atletico have to be at their attacking best to break this well organised outfit down.

Real Madrid will be on a high after a superb week saw them beat Barca twice and qualify for the quarter-finals on the Champions League with a 2-1 win at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.

Jose Mourinho takes his men to Celta Vigo on Sunday and the hosts are fighting for their lives at the bottom of La Liga and have lost four of their last five, so know they are in for a tough 90 minutes here.

Real will fancy their chances of landing second place in Spain’s top flight this campaign and if they do that, as well as delivering the Champions League and Copa del Rey titles, they would be forgiven for a frustrating league campaign. They are at 6/13 to come out on top this weekend.

The other two matches on Sunday see Athletic Bilbao and Valencia lock horns in what should be a very entertaining game and Getafe head to Levante.

Bring on the action in this league that is full of quality.
