Spanish giants Barcelona will need to quicken their stride and buy Arsenal’s Cesc Fabregas within the next 11 days, if he is to feature in their Champions League campaign.
The North London club will find out later this morning, who they will be playing in their final Champions League qualifier, the first leg of which is to be played on August 16 or 17.
Arsene Wenger is ready to name his skipper in his squad for this campaign and, should he play a role in the qualifier, he would therefore be ineligible to play for Barcelona should a transfer then materialise.
Fabregas appeared in front of Arsenal fans for the first time this summer yesterday, taking part in the club’s members’ day.
Barcelona had their latest offer rejected this morning, reported to be worth around £35m. However, the Gunners are refusing to budge on their £40m valuation of their skipper.
