will of course have high hopes for the new campaign, but the big favourites for the title are current German and European Champions – Bayern Munich.
Bayern now have Pep Guardiola in charge of course and they have been busy in the transfer market. You would even say they are stronger than last year and Guardiola will be looking for a win in his first Bundesliga encounter, which is a match this evening against Borussia Monchengladbach.
It is no surprise to see the home side as the big favourites for this one. At the moment, you can back them at 1/6 with the bookies, so they are expected to get the season off to a good start.
Mario Mandzukic is sure to be leading the line and you can get odds of 5/2 on him breaking the deadlock this evening.
Monchengladbach know they’re in for a tough match, but this might be the best time to play Bayern and if you think the away side can win this one, you can back them at 25/1.
Moving onto the matches on Saturday, Borussia Dortmund are in action and Bayern’s biggest title rivals will be looking to get off to a good start.
Dortmund make the journey to Augsburg, who finished just above the bottom three last season – so need to improve this campaign.
Jurgen Klopp’s men were never near Bayern last season and a good start is key, so victories are needed early on. An away win is being offered at 1/2.
Elsewhere, Bayer Leverkusen – who were impressive last time out – are at home to Freiburg and should get off to a winning start. It is going to be interesting to see if Leverkusen can make a genuine title challenge this term, however finishing in the top four will be the aim once more.
Hannover are at home to Wolfsburg as well, while newly-promoted Hertha Berlin entertain Eintracht Frankfurt. Berlin know how important a good start is to help their survival push and they can be backed at 7/5 to win on Saturday.
Hoffenheim managed to win their relegation play-off, so they are still a Bundesliga club and they host Nurnberg this weekend.
The evening game on Saturday sees Werder Bremen head to the other promoted side – Braunschweig – who could be good value for their first match in the top flight at 2/1.
There are then two games to look forward to on Sunday, with the first of them being an interesting battle between Mainz and Stuttgart.
Both of these sides will be looking to make a push for European football and the value could be with the home team here as they are at 6/4.
The final game of the weekend sees Schalke and Hamburg lock horns and this campaign, Schalke know a top four finish is vital. They should take the spoils in this one.
Bring on the first weekend of action in the Bundesliga!
