Bayern Munich will be hoping to keep in touch with league leaders Borussia Dortmund this weekend when they host relegation threatend Kaiserslautern on Saturday afternoon.
The title race looks set to go right to the wire this season and with four teams aiming to secure 1st position, each game is extremely significant for the likes of Bayern Munich.
Munich have seen this first hand in recent weeks of course. Not so long ago they were leading the way in the Bundesliga, but defeat to Borussia Monchengladbach and dropped points at Hamburg has seen Dortmund go two points clear at the top as pressure has come on Arjen Robben in particular, who once again looks to be sitting the game out and warming the bench.

With this in mind, nothing but three points will do for Bayern on Saturday. Going five points behind 1st place would be disastorous at this stage of the season, so they must get the job done and beat Kaiserslautern.
As for the visitors, well their form doesn’t suggest that they will give Bayern too many problems. They have gone ten Bundesliga games without a victory and on the road, they have only picked up three points once all season.
This has seen them sit in the relegation zone going into this weekend’s fixtures, currently two points adrift of safety. Much like Bayern, they are short of where they need to be come the end of the season, so every game is vital.
Looking at the team news for Saturday’s clash, Bayern are set to leave Dutch winger Arjen Robben on the bench after he has suffered a dip in form. Coach Jupp Heynckes looks set to name the same side that won at Stuttgart last time out, with Bastian Schweinsteiger once again missing out through injury.
For Kaiserslautern, Marco Kurz will have to do without the suspended Ariel Borysiuk as they go in search of a shock away victory, but they have very little to prove.
Overall, this is a game that Bayern should win relatively comfortable, but they have plenty of pressure on their shoulders at the moment after a slight dip in form and they will need to be professional to get the three points.
