Belgian midfielder claims Arsenal would be dream move

Witzel's father claims there is interest from abroad but that Arsenal would be the dream moveThe father of Standard Liege midfielder Axel Witsel claims that his son is ready for a move to one of the major leagues and admits that Arsenal would be his dream destination.

The 22 year old has received glowing reviews as well as scoring over 30 goals in almost 150 appearances. The six footer has been part of the Standard Liege side since youth and Witsel also has close to twenty caps for Belgium.

His father confirmed he is waiting for the right offer to be made.

“Axel is ready for one of the world’s three major leagues: Serie A, Premier League and La Liga, I hope that he has just finished his last season with Standard Liege. Fiorentina are interested but there are other Italian clubs, he spoke about Italy with Gillet and Mudingayi, his team-mates in the national team and he’s waiting only for the right offer.”

Regarding the Emirates side Witsel’s father said.

“Axel has no pretensions. But his dream has always been Arsenal. He just wants a club that is ready to believe in him.”

Whilst there has been nothing formal from Wenger regarding a move for the 22 year old his age would certainly be no barrier in Wenger’s current transfer policy.
