With just goal difference separating them at the top of the table in Portugal, Porto and Benfica go head to head on Friday night in the biggest game of the season so far as you can watch all the action live streaming online – see below.
It is Porto that lead the way at the moment, but Benfica are within touching distance and would go top of the table if they can come away from Friday evening’s fixture with three points.
Focusing on Porto to begin with, they no longer have European competition to worry about after being hammered 6-1 on aggregate to Manchester City in the Europa League last month. They can now fully concentrate on domestic matters.
With regards to their form in Primeira Liga, Vítor Pereira’s men have suffered just one defeat all season. This was a shock reverse at Gil Vicente back in January, but other than this they have been extremely impressive, scoring 47 goals in their 20 games so far.

As for Benfica – who have home advantage on Friday evening – they too have only lost the once, matching reigning Champions Porto every step of the way so far this season.
They can be extremely encouraged by their excellent home form too. So far in the league this season they have won all ten matches in front of their home fans, scoring 32 goals in the process.
Benfica are in a slightly indifferent run at the moment though. They went down 3-2 at Zenit in the Champions League last month before their first defeat of the league season at Vitória Guimarães was followed by a frustrating 0-0 draw Académica.
All of this makes Friday evening’s match even more fascinating though. These two teams are so evenly matched that it really is a tough one to predict.
So far this season, they have got the same amount of points, won the same amount, drawn the same amount, lost the same amount and scored the same amount. The only difference at the moment is that Porto have conceded three less goals.
Which way will it go when the top two meet this week? Find out from 8.15pm on Friday evening.
