It’s understood that former West Ham defender, Jonathan Spector, is set to undergo a medical with Birmingham City ahead of a possible move to St. Andrews.
The centre-back is available on a free transfer after his contract at Upton Park expired earlier this summer.
The deal could signal that the rumoured sales of defenders Scott Dann and/or Liam Ridgewell could be imminent, with both players attracting Premier League interest.
Spector, who made over 100 appearances for the Hammers, is ready to sign a two-year contract with the Blues, with the option of a third year included.
Birmingham are limited in the transfer market this summer, with owner Carson Yeung currently embroiled in a court battle in Hong Kong, the club have little-to-no transfer funds available.
Birmingham City begin their Championship campaign against Derby County on Saturday.
