Blackburn Liverpool Odds : Kean looking for Premiership relegation fight as Daglish set to rest players

Blackburn will be aiming to move out of the relegation zone this evening when they host a Liverpool team in desperate need to return to winning ways in the Premier League, as bookmakers offer an attractive price on Steve Kean’s side.

Going into tonight’s only Premier League fixture, Blackburn sit 18th, but a victory would take them out of the bottom three and into 16th position. With five games remaining, they would have given themselves a chance of survival.

The form of Steve Kean’s men isn’t great though. Rovers have lost their last three games and after being six points clear of the drop zone a few weeks ago, they are now firmly back in trouble once again.

The 3-0 defeat at West Brom last time out was an extremely disappointing one too. It was one of the worst performances of the season and this is certainly not the time for a display as average as this one.

Somehow, Blackburn need the pick themselves up again and go on a positive run. Perhaps three points over Liverpool will be enough to start an encouraging few weeks that could save their forgettable season.

As for Liverpool, they don’t need the points as desperately as Blackburn, but after a hugely disappointing run they would love to return to winning ways.

The 1-1 draw at home to Aston Villa last time out stopped the rot somewhat after three successive defeats, but it is still six defeats in their last eight Premier League games for Kenny Dalglish’s men.

With the FA Cup semi-final against Everton at the weekend, Liverpool could do with the win to boost their confidence. They would love to close the gap on their local rivals in the league too with the Toffees four points ahead going into this one.

Overall, this is an extremely important game for both sides and the atmosphere is likely to be tense at Ewood Park. When the two teams met earlier in the season it was a 1-1 draw and many are expecting a tight contest once again.

It all gets underway at 8pm this evening.
