Steve Kean has dismissed reports suggesting that want-away defender Chris Samba refused to play in Saturday’s win against Fulham.
No injury had been reported leading up to the game, however Samba did not feature in the game at Ewood Park at all.
The giant center-back has not hid his eagerness to leave Blackburn within the January transfer window, however Kean insists this had nothing to do with why the defender took no part in the game.
Samba has made no secret of his desire to quit the Lancashire outfit in the January transfer window but Kean insists there was nothing underhand about his non-appearance on Saturday.
The Rovers boss insists that the stopper missed out due to stomach cramps, after the club were informed that he was unwell on Friday.
“That’s not true,” said Kean when asked if Samba had refused to play.
“He texted the doctor on Friday complaining of stomach cramps. We’ll make sure the virus he has is not too serious, that it clears up and he can be available for Everton.
“But I would rather talk about the lads who were out there. Anybody who is not here I would rather not talk about.”
Tottenham are believed to be keen admirers of the player, whilst new QPR boss Mark Hughes is also thought to be tracking Samba as he knows all about his talents from their time together at Blackburn.
A series of Sunday newspapers have also linked league leaders Manchester city with a move for Samba.
