Blackburn QPR Odds : Hughes betting on Zamora

Both Blackburn and QPR will have the opportunity to land a serious blow in the battle to avoid relegation when they go head to head at Ewood Park on Saturday.

Blackburn’s recent run of good form was brought to an abrupt end last weekend as Arsenal put seven goals past them at the Emirates Stadium, a result that moved them down to 19th and just two points clear of bottom placed club Wigan.

However, despite that poor result Rovers will go into the game with renewed confidence after leading goalscorer Yakubu completed his three game ban for the red card he picked up against Fulham and should slot straight back into a team that has scored just once in his absence.

QPR meanwhile had their own bubble burst thanks to a 2-1 defeat against Wolves as Mark Hughes and his host of new signings threw away the one goal lead handed to them by new boy Bobby Zamora thrown away after fellow new signing Djibril Cisse was sent off.

Hughes will certainly want to work on his side’s defensive discipline after their latest loss from a winning position made it 15 points dropped from games in which they have taken the lead.

That result left them just a point clear of the relegation zone with Hughes honeymoon period seemingly over already.

With Cisse suspended for the trip to Blackburn, Hughes will be counting his lucky stars that he recruited attacking options in the January transfer window, with D.J Campbell, Jay Bothroyd and Heidar Helguson, with only the latter given any chance of taking part in the game.

Blackburn have relatively few injury worries but Chris Samba remains notable by his absence. The imposing defender wasn’t part of the squad to face Arsenal having not featured since early January following his club’s decision not to grant his request of a move away from Ewood Park during the transfer window.
