Blackburn Rovers are lining up a loan move to take Manchester United striker Federico Macheda to Ewood Park until at least January.
Manchester United currently have seven main strikers on their books and Sir Alex Ferguson is likely to allow at least two of them to head to other clubs to gain Premiership experience. It was as first assumed that Mame-Diouf would be allowed to return to the Lancashire club, however Rovers manager Steve Kean is believed to be more interested in his Italian team mate.
Macheda spent the second part of last season on loan with Italian side Sampdoria but has insisted that he wishes to remain in the Premier League for this season. Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has also confirmed that he would prefer Macheda to gain Premier League experience rather than allowing him to be loaned out abroad again this season.
Macheda has also been linked with move to other Premiership clubs this summer as part of loan deals however it is believed that United’s recent deal for Phil Jones will play its part in seeing Macheda in a blue and white shirt this season.
