Steve Kean is poised to make a renewed attempt to sign Bristol City’s prolific striker, Nicky Maynard, after failing with a summer move, which he managed to keep under everyone’s noses.
The Championship club were reportedly asking for £6.5m for their striking talisman, a sum that Rovers were unwilling to match.
The Premier League side instead opted to sign Yakubu from Everton and Jordan Slew from Sheffield United.
24 year-old Maynard has scored three goals in City’s five opening fixtures this season, and Kean is set to revive his interest in the forward, ready for a January swoop.
