Tottenham midfielder Jermaine Jenas is rumoured to be a target of Blackburn Rovers. The English midfielder, 28, has been out-of-favour at White Hart Lane recently since the arrival of Sandro and sources claim Tottenham could be open to offers.
It is believed that an offer of £8million could tempt Tottenham to sell but the north London club could be keen on holding out for more for the midfielder they signed from Newcastle Unite for £7million in 2005. Jenas, whose current deal at Tottenham is set to expire next year, could be sold to avoid him leaving for nothing next summer.
And Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp’s desire to bring another striker to the club could force the sale of Jenas. However, Redknapp may also be keen to be patient and try to milk a couple of million more from Blackburn in order to raise more money. An £8million offer could be enough to convince Tottenham to sell, though, if Redknapp is desperate for the cash.
The midfielder, capped 21 times for England, has attracted interest from other Premier League clubs too. Sources claim that Aston Villa could be keen on Jenas if a potential deal for West Ham’s Parker falls through. Wild rumours even suggest Chelsea may have slight interest, but these seem unlikely.
If other rumours are to be believed, Jenas could even form part of Spurs’ bid to land Bolton defender Gary Cahill. Redknapp has made no secret of his admiration of the young England centre-half and an exchange deal does not seem totally out of the question due to Tottenham’s lack of finance.
