Blanc to make decision on France future

France coach Laurent Blanc says he will make a decision on his future in the next 48 hours amid reports that he is set to hold talks with Tottenham Hotspur.

Les Bleus were knocked out by defending champions Spain in the quarter finals leading to speculation that Blanc would step down when his contract expires on 30 June as rumours persist that he will succeed Harry Redknapp at White Hart Lane.

It’s thought the 46-year-old is top of Spurs chairman Daniel Levy’s hit list with former Chelsea and Porto boss Andre Villas-Boas also under consideration for the post despite being sacked by the Blues in March.

Levy hopes to begin talks with Blanc later this week to discuss replacing Redknapp who was sacked two weeks ago after failing to agree terms on a new contract.

The former Bordeaux boss spent much of Thursday meeting with FFF president Noel le Graet with both parties now expected to come to a decision over their respective positions in two days.

“Our meeting did not last all day because I had other commitments,” Blanc told L’Equipe. “But everyone said what they had to say, including about the Euros.

“We have many things in common but it is also a personal decision concerning me. We gave ourselves a deadline of 48 hours.”

The statement on www.fff.fr said: “Noel le Graet and Laurent Blanc held a lengthy meeting during the day on June 28.

“Following their discussion, the president of the FFF and the coach agreed to give time for reflection.”

Should he be appointed at Spurs it would be the former Manchester United defenders first managerial job in the Premier Legaue after three years at the helm at Bordeaux between 2007 and 2010 before taking over from Raymond Domenech as France coach.
