Bolton manager, Owen Coyle, is understood to be negotiating a cheap deal for Manchester City winger, Shaun Wright-Phillips.
The Scot is keen on the speedster, but a low transfer fee is the only route that allows the Trotters to afford the player’s high transfer wages.
The England international is a top priority for Coyle, after Lee Chung-Yong broke his leg last week, and was ruled out for at least nine months.
Coyle refused to comment on the negotiations, saying: “I have too much respect for [City manager] Roberto Mancini and his staff to talk about their player. But Shaun is a hugely talented player.”
The Bolton boss is also thought to be looking to bring a striker to the Reebok Stadium, with Liverpool’s David Ngog Birmingham City striker, Cameron Jerome, both on his radar.
