Bolton Wanderers have emerged as an unlikely source of interest for Barcelona youngster Jeffren Suarez. The winger, a product of Barcelona’s prestigious academy, is believed to have been a target of Liverpool and Valencia but rumours have it that Bolton are in pole position to land the Spaniard.
Sources claim that Bolton manager, Owen Coyle, is set to fly Jeffren to England for talks over personal terms to finalise a move. Barcelona have allegedly told the winger that he is surplus to requirements at the Nou Camp and the European champions are eager to sell in order to raise money to fund the transfers of Fabregas and Alexis Sanchez.
And talk that Jeffren is set to be sold seemed to be genuine as Barcelona left the player behind as they embarked on their summer tour. However, it is not known whether the player will be interested in a move to Lancashire, despite claiming that he wants first-team football. Bolton should, no doubt, be able to offer just that.
Unsurprisingly, though, Coyle may face fierce competition in his attempt to land the tricky winger. Aforementioned, Liverpool and Valencia are potential suitors for Jeffren and Fulham boss Martin Jol is also rumoured to be keen.
Barcelona’s price tag of £5million is more than affordable for Bolton, who are yet to buy this summer. The fee is close to being agreed, according to some reports. However, the challenge of the deal may lie with persuading Jeffren that a move from the European champions to Bolton is in his best interests.
