Jürgen Klopp’s Borussia Dortmund are set to keep a firm grip on their Bundesliga Champions elect group of youngsters for a full assault on the Champions League next season.
Borussia Dortmund are currently in complete control of the German Bundesliga sitting comfortably in first place with a 12 point cushion between themselves and second placed Bayer Leverkusen. Their terrific season has seen many clubs across Europe scouting their players including that of 22 year old centre back Neven Subotić.
Speculation has been rife this year with news of probable bids coming in from the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City for the rigid defender who has helped his side concede only 14 goals in 25 matches in the Bundesliga.
Unfortunately for Dortmund, those types of statistics do not go unnoticed but it is believed that the German side will be keeping as many of their key players as possible for a Champions league campaign meaning any bids may not even be listened to.
However with the likelyhood of Arsenal and probably Chelsea and City making the Champions League too, big offers for Subotić, and probably others, will be hard to turn down despite recent comments from the clubs president Hans-Joachim Watzke.
“The club is completely healthy. We have the resources to keep our important players here, something that was impossible a few years ago.”
