News from the North of England has suggested that both Manchester United and Manchester City are to try and prise the 22 year old Argentinian Sergio Agüero away from Atlético Madrid during the next summer transfer opening.
It has been known that both Manchester clubs have been interested in the striker for a while and by evaluating his scoring record it is not difficult to see why. It is however confusing as to why Manchester City will require yet another attacker to their team.
Edin Dzecko is now beginning to work out what to do when up against a better class of defenders so it’s likely he will stay. On the other hand Carlos Tevez, the club captain doesn’t know himself whether he is staying at Eastlands or not although the signing of Agüero could be a ploy of Roberto Mancini’s to give Tevez someone to talk with when in one of his sulky moods.
We then move onto Ballotelli, the youngster is a talent, there is no argument for that but whether he can be “bothered” to play each week is a different matter and his attitude and energy on the pitch surely has a lot to be desired.
For Manchester United, they desperately need a striker able to poach goals when Wayne Roony and Berbatov can’t. Hernandez is a good one for the future but any hint of Agüero moving to Old Trafford may spell the end for Michael owen who, when fit can perform, but when is he really fit these days?
The price for Agüero is sketchy, even in today’s market it is likely that the young Argentine will only be allowed to leave for upwards of that famous £25m mark a price that Manchester City are much more likely to cough up easier than their red neighbours.
