Brazilian starlet will become subject to Chelsea summer interest

As the club seem destined to fail in their attempts to sign the player this month, Chelsea will dedicate a large amount of their summer attention to sign Lucas Moura from Sao Paulo.

The Blues have reportedly had a £30m bid rejected by the Brazilian club this week and it seems as if the club’s search for an attacking midfielder will go unsatisfied for another six months.

It’s no secret that the West London outfit hold a high amount of interest in Tottenham talisman, Luka Modric, and it appears as if Andre Villas Boas is looking for a player to take over the duties of Frank Lampard in the long-term.

The Portuguese boss has had a rocky relationship with the 33 year-old since coming to the club over the summer and many claim that the veteran is on his way out of the side.

Moura has earned massive plaudits over the past year and earned his first caps for the Brazilian national side in 2011, since going on to make ten appearances for the team.

His club form at Sao Paulo is what has earned the increase in playing time however and in 2011 the 19 year-old made 43 appearances for the Brazilian side, scoring on 13 occasions as well as racking up eight assists.

‘Lucas’ has stated his interest in joining Chelsea but has gone on to a say that if a deal does come about, it will only occur in the summer.

It’s unknown at this point if Andre Villas Boas’ side will need to increase their £30m offer or if the bid was rejected simply based on bad timing, but a summer transfer is expected to go through in six months time in what could be the answer to Frank Lampard’s aging form.
