The Liverpool manager has indicated that he will not be putting Mario Balotelli in the starting XI yet as he does not fit into the current tactical system.
Mario Balotelli arrived at Anfield as a replacement for Luis Suarez. Many people expected the controversial striker to hit the ground running on his return to Premier League football. However, things have gone in an entirely opposite direction with the former AC Milan man struggling to score goals.
And it appears that Brendan Rodgers is not going to use the striker as frequently as he did at the beginning of the season with the Northern Irishman saying that the recently adopted 3-4-3 formation is not the one Balotelli is suited to.
Moreover, The Reds boss also added that he changed the formation to give added potency to his offensive players.
Rodgers said: “I think we’ve seen that it’s not really his game.
Rodgers further added that playing at an intense level while pressing opponents is not something Balotelli is used to which is why he is not going to use the player in this new formation.
The recent change clearly signals an end to Balotelli’s career at Liverpool and it won’t be a surprise if he is sold during the January transfer window.
