Liverpool manager, Brendan Rodgers says that despite a poor start to the new English Premier League campaign, the team can finish in the top four by the end of the season. The Reds hosted Arsenal in yesterday’s league encounter at Anfield and thanks to a stoppage time goal from Martin Skrtel, shared a point with the Gunners for their efforts.
The Merseysiders are currently in 10th place in the league standings and nine points behind fourth placed West Ham United but Rodgers is confident that his players can turn things around soon and rally for a top four finish in the league.
The Reds looked set for an eighth defeat in the league but thanks to Skrtel, their blushes were spared. However, Rodgers seemed to be in an optimistic mood and pointed out the incident when Fabio Borini was sent off as a gauge for the team’s character.
“The way we fought back to equalize with 10 men says everything about the team and its character.”
After finishing runners up to Manchester City last season, Liverpool were expected to mount a title assault this time around. However, things haven’t really gone according to plan so far this season.
