Brendan Rogers eyes trio of transfers including raids on Barcelona and Roma

Brendan Rogers intends to sign at least 3 new players in a bid to strengthen Liverpool’s squad as rumours persist that Luis Suarez could be on his way out of Anfield in the summer.

In an interview to the radio station TalkSport on Tuesday, Rogers spoke about possible transfers to the club.

The ex Swansea man commented ‘I very much keep my own counsel and it is certainly the Liverpool way to do that.

‘I am looking to potentially bring in some players that can really affect the group.’

The ex-Swansea manager has shown interest in Barcelona’s Ibrahim Affellay, who was only a bit-part player for Barcelona last season making 20 appearances for the Catalan giants.

The Holland international has failed to make an impact at Barcelona since he moved there from PSV in 2011.

But Rogers may have to part with 8 million if he wishes to lure the 26-year-old attacking midfielder to England.

Another midfielder that has caught the attention of the Liverpool manager is 21 year-old Gaston Ramirez.

The Bologna midfielder has become Europe’s hottest young talent after he showed great promise in his debut season in 2010.

After being involved with propelling Bologna to 9th in Serie A with a club ambition of just staying in the division last season, and with a natural ability with the ball and his intelligence when in possession, it make Ramirez an interesting prospect.

He may also relish the prospect of playing with his controversial Uruguayan team mate Luis Suarez at the Mersey side outfit, if Suarez decides to stay.

There are reports from the Daily Express that the midfielder has already signed for Liverpool in the region of 20 million.

Ex-Chelsea striker Fabio Borini has also been linked with a move to the Reds.

The 21-year-old has impressed at Roma scoring 9 times in 2010-2011 season, and also earned a call up to Cesare Prandelli’s Euro 2012 Italy squad where he was involved with the elimination of England.

Rogers has worked with Borini before after he moved to Swansea two seasons ago scoring 6 times in 12 appearances to help promote Swansea.

But after Roma bought the remainder of the Italian’s contract from Parma, where he was co-owned, it could be harder to entice the young striker to join him at Anfeild.
