Bundesliga defender Per Mertesacker has agreed terms with Arsenal after passing the clubs medical and should be revealed at some stage on Wednesday.
Werder Bremen agreed to a reported £8.8m fee to allow the Germany international to fly to London on Tuesday to discuss personal terms. Whilst the player is likely to be unveiled today his visit shall be brief as he heads back to Germany for training prior to the teams clash with Poland on September 6th.
The latest signing is yet another sign that Wenger is bringing in more quality to compete with the likes of Manchester United and Manchester City for the Premiership title and there is at least one more signing expected at the Emirates to add to that of Park and Mertesacker before the transfer window closes at midnight tonight.
