Bundesliga hitman attracting interest of Arsenal and Tottenham

Adding to the long list of suitors surrounding his transfer, Arsenal and Tottenham have reportedly joined the hunt to sign Freiburg goal machine, Papiss Demba Cissé.

The forward is a January target for a number of European sides including Sunderland, who came close to gaining his signature over the summer.

However, a move never came about and the Senegalese international remained in Germany.

It’s unknown whether this was a choice of the player’s or if his club intervened on his behalf but it appears that the Bundesliga outfit may be willing to cash in on their hitman as they find themselves smack-bottom of the German top flight.

Arsenal were being linked with a move for Bundesliga rival and Cologne striker, Lukas Podolski, however Arsene Wenger claims that the North London side have no intention of signing the 26 year-old.

Not that a manager hasn’t played it cool regarding a transfer in the past, but if it turns out that Arsenal scouts aren’t watching the German international, it could leave the club with more chance of monitoring his Freiburg counterpart.

Tottenham have been associated with moves for just about every frontman under the sun and are currently relying upon on-loan striker, Emmanuel Adebayor, to shoulder most of the scoring duties with the Spurs midfield pitching in amply.

Both sides have cause to sign a striker, and with 37 goals in 65 Bundesliga appearances, one could see why the 26 year-old is attracting so much attention.

Cissé was being valued at £13m over the summer however, given the side’s current predicament, they could either lower or increase that price depending on the financial status and ambitions of the club’s executive staff.

Should the North London rivals choose to clash over the ace, they may face competition from opposite end of the table Bayern Munich, who are rumoured to be interested in taking Cissé off the hands of their flailing opposition.
