Moving onto Saturday, there are five big games all getting underway from 2.30PM and the leaders Bayern Munich are at home to Eintracht Frankfurt, who sit in third – so this is a huge encounter.
The Allianz Arena will be rocking and Bayern can extend their seven point lead at the top if results go their way, whereas Frankfurt are searching for only their second win in five matches.
Jupp Heynckes will be hoping Bayern can continue where they left off in the Champions League midweek, as they romped to a 6-1 win over Lille, with Claudio Pizarro bagging a hatrick, as Mario Mandzukic should return after a bout of flu.
Schalke are also in action on home soil against Werder Bremen and will be after all three points in this one.
Schalke boss Huub Stevens will be without Atsuto Uchida and midfielder Marco Höger who went off injured in their 2-2 draw with Arsenal midweek as the second placed side look to bounce back from a disappointing defeat to Hoffenheim in the last round.
Werder Bremen have not lost in three though, so are in a good bit of form right now.
Freiburg then take on Hamburger and Fortuna Dusseldorf are at home to Hoffenheim.
Borussia Dortmund head to bottom of the league Augsburg in the final game on Saturday, so maximum points are a must for the current champions.
Jurgen Klopp’s side will be hoping for an improvement after a disappointing 0-0 draw with Stuttgart last week, but with Markus Weinzierl’s side securing only one win all season the three points should be heading the Champions way.
On Sunday, the early kick-off sees a battle between two teams in different spirits at the moment meet as Bayer Leverkusen, who sit in fourth place travel to a Wolfsburg side that are in 16th and really struggling. With Leverkusen winning two matches in a row, they will be expecting a victory here.
Borussia Monchengladbach are in mid-table and they make the journey to Greuther Furth on Sunday evening.
The final encounter to look at sees Stuttgart and Hannover lock horns and with how tight the league is right now, Stuttgart can overhaul their opponents who currently sit in sixth.
It should be a superb weekend.
