Dortmund will be the big favourites for this one, especially as they have won their last three in the German top flight as Jurgen Klopp’s side look to hang onto the coat tails of Bayern Munich.
The games are coming thick and fast which looks to be of some benefit to the current Bundesliga Champions, and they should have too much for Norbert Meier’s newcomers.
Elsewhere, Schalke make the journey to Hamburger and need to take all three points after not winning in their previous two. Hamburger are in the middle of the table right now and it is games like this that could really kick-start their season.
Also on Tuesday, Eintracht Frankfurt host Mainz 05 and Greuther Furth make the journey to Hannover.
Moving onto Wednesday’s action, Bayern Munich are away to Freiburg in a match where the visitor’s will be after nothing other than all three points. Freiburg have moved up to sixth though and won their last two – so could prove to be a big test for the league-leaders who will still be without Arjen Robben, who is not fully match fit after recovering from a minor muscle problem.
Jupp Heynckes’s side demolished Hannover on the weekend 5-0, and the manager will be looking for a similar result.
Borussia Monchengladbach host Wolfsburg as well and the home side have struggled for any consistency this campaign. Wolfsburg’s recent run of good results have seen them move clear of trouble, but they will be desperate for something here.
Werder Bremen v Bayer Leverkusen is a battle between seventh and fifth right now, so should be one of the pick of the ties during midweek.
Bottom of the table Augsburg need a result at Stuttgart as they are six points adrift from safety.
The final game to look at in this round of midweek fixtures sees Nurnberg and Hoffenheim lock horns in what is a massive game at the foot of the Bundesliga. These two sit in 15th and 16 respectively and Hoffenheim can overhaul their opponents with a victory here.
With neither side winning in three matches though, this could be a nervous 90 minutes.
It should be a cracking couple of days in this league that is full of quality.
