2013 certainly got off to a bang in the Bundesliga with some shock results, plenty of entertainment and a number of goals. This weekend is sure to be no different with some more enthralling encounters taking place.

As always, the action gets underway on Friday evening and Borussia Dortmund can move into second place if they claim all three points at home to Nurnberg. It should be a comfortable evening for the champions as their opponents are just above the drop zone right now.

If Dortmund are at their best, they will claim all three points here, but we have seen them struggle at home on a number of occasions this campaign.

Moving onto Saturday’s fixtures, Eintracht Frankfurt will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to Bayern Munich last weekend when they head to Hoffenheim.

It is now eight matches since the home side tasted victory, so if Frankfurt can grab an early goal here, Hoffenheim’s heads might go down and it could be a great afternoon for the away side.

Borussia Monchengladbach have made themselves tough to beat in recent weeks and they host Fortuna Dusseldorf on Saturday. The home team will expect all three points in this one, especially as Dusseldorf are leaking goals at the back right now.

If they continue to pick up points in matches like this one, then Monchengladbach could make a challenge for a European spot this campaign.

Hannover and Wolfsburg both currently sit in the bottom half of the table, but don’t look to be in much relegation trouble. They lock horns this weekend and Wolfsburg are in better form as they have won two of their last three.

Hannover come into this one on the back of two defeats, so need the points to ease the pressure on themselves.

Augsburg host Schalke in a battle between two sides with very different ambitions for the campaign. Augsburg are doing all they can to stay in then league this season and do come into this one on the back of a win, whereas Schalke are chasing Champions League football.

With plenty at stake, this should be a cracker.

Greuther Furth look to be doomed at the minute as they are twelve points away from safety and cannot seem to win a match. They take on Mainz this weekend, who are enjoying a good season and sit in seventh.

The late kick-off on Saturday should be a scintillating 90 minutes as the team in second place, Bayer Leverkusen, head to Freiburg.

The home side are on a four-game unbeaten run and have moved into the top six, so Leverkusen will have to be at their best to claim all three points in this one. After scoring six goals in their last two though, Leverkusen are sure to be confident on Saturday evening.

Two matches take place on Sunday with the first of them being between Hamburger and Werder Bremen. Just three points separate these two mid-table of the Bundesliga, so it should be fairly evenly matched.

Finally, Bayern Munich will be looking to maintain their healthy lead at the top when they make the journey to Stuttgart.

Bayern come into this one in good form and know that Stuttgart have lost their last two, so could be fairly nervous. It is tough to see anything but a win for the Bundesliga-leaders and they might put on a show to round-off the action in this German top flight.
