England manager, Fabio Capello, has joined the side of critics nationwide, advising Arsene Wenger that he must spend some cash on players in this transfer window.
The Frenchman has been stereotypically conservative this summer, spending around £15m, however only on youngsters such as Carl Jenkinson and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
These acquisitions are made to look even more miniscule when you take into account the £35m departure of Cesc Fabregas to Barcelona, early last week.
The Gunners are also close to losing midfield asset, Samir Nasri, despite a slight stumbling block over agents’ commission.
As reported by the Daily Star, Capello told SkySports: “I think he needs to buy some new players, some important players. He’s a really good manager, but it’s not a good moment, it’s difficult after six years without a trophy for a club like Arsenal.”
England internationals such as Jack Wilshere and Theo Walcott will also be hoping the squad can be improved, as they mount an assault on their respective England places for Euro 2012.
