With all the injuries in the squad, it could give Vilas-Boas the perfect opportunity to hand Romanian centre-back Vladimir Chirches a debut after his delayed deal was completed on Thursday night.
The defender had been waiting on approval for a work permit but with the matter now being resolved, the Romanian is likely to feature at some point for Tottenham.
With Tottenham’s line-up becoming increasingly confident week after week, it will be hard to see Spurs’ not getting anything against what will be a determined Cardiff side eager to show their worth to the Premier League.
