Celtic and Rangers to tempt Berbatov into SPL switch

Celtic and Rangers will try their luck with a bid for Manchester United's BerbatovReports from Scotland are suggesting that both Rangers and Celtic are preparing possible bids to land Manchester United’s top goal scorer Dimitar Berbatov this summer.

The striker, despite scoring most of Manchester United’s goals has suddenly found himself down the pecking order and was left out of the Champions League final not even being named as a substitute.

It was first revealed in mid March that Celtic were interested in landing the Bulgarian but nothing has been made formal as yet. With Rangers also now reported to be keen on the forward the price tag is likely to rise and with Berbatov having only 12 months remaining on his current deal, Sir Alex Ferguson could be in a position to cash in and recoup some of the £30.75m the Old Trafford club first paid Tottenham for his services.

It seems that the emergence of Chicharito and Rooney as a partnership could see Berbatov surplus to requirements and although the Bulgarian has been linked with moves to Italy, a switch to the SPL could be a distinct possibility for the 30 year old.
