On Friday evening, Leicester City entertain Birmingham City at the King Power Stadium and the home side are desperate for a win as they haven’t taken maximum points in eight Championship matches.

The Foxes have moved out of the play-off places, but with this being the Friday night match, they can move back into the top six with a victory.

As for Birmingham, they are seven points away from the play-offs and six clear of the bottom three, so they look set to finish in mid-table.

On Saturday, the early kick-off sees Sheffield Wednesday make the short journey to Leeds United and this encounter could be all about a bit of Yorkshire pride as these two sit in 14th and 17th respectively.

Cardiff City will be looking to move a step closer to promotion when they take on a Nottingham Forest side that sit in fifth place at the moment.

Cardiff conceded a 95th minute equaliser against Barnsley during the week, but they are still nine points clear of Watford in third and another win here would all but guarantee a place in the top flight.

As for Forest, they have drawn their last three and if they lose this one, then Billy Davies’ men could drop out of the top six. Forest might be very good value at 14/5.

Watford travel to Peterborough in a battle between two sides with very different ambitions for the season as the Hornets are in third place and have a chance of finishing in the top two, whereas the Posh are down in 23rd, but can are only a point away from safety.

Peterborough have been strong on home soil to the big teams in the league this campaign and another massive display is needed here. A home win is at 19/10.

Ipswich Town are the side in the best form in the league as they have 14 points from their last six games and that has seen them all but secure their Championship status.

Mick McCarthy now wants to end the campaign on a high, so a win at home to Hull City is what he is after.

Hull are in second though and come here desperate for all three points, so they could be a decent bet at 13/8.

Middlesbrough are now seven points away from the play-offs after a shocking run of form, so their chances of reaching the top six look to be over.

This weekend, the north-east side entertain Brighton & Hove Albion, who currently occupy the all important sixth place in the Championship. A win for Boro here could keep their slim hopes alive, but Brighton are sure to come here full of confidence.

Elsewhere, Blackburn Rovers need a win at home to Derby Country to try and move out of the drop zone and Huddersfield Town head to Wolverhampton Wanders in a relegation six-pointer.

None of these three teams near the bottom would have expected to be in such a big fight to stay in the league and it is a massive day for all of them.

Blackpool and Burnley lock horns as well, with Bristol City v Bolton Wanderers and Barnsley v Charlton Athletic completing the fixtures in this enthralling Championship weekend.
