The game often described as the richest in football takes place on Bank Holiday Monday as Crystal Palace and Watford lock horns in the Championship play-off final at Wembley Stadium.

Looking at Palace to begin with, they were in the top six for the majority of the season and although they struggled towards the end of the campaign, the Eagles have done well to reach the final.

Their 2-0 win at the in-form Brighton & Hove Albion last time out was a sign that Holloway’s men can beat anyone on their day and if they get the ball to their danger men – such as Wilfried Zaha and Kevin Phillips – in the right areas, there is no doubt Palace can win this one.

Leading scorer Glen Murray looks as though he is out with injury, so that is why Phillips could play a massive part on Monday and the veteran striker is being offered at 7/1 to break the deadlock.

Holloway knows all about the play-offs and he will try and tell his side to treat this like any other game.

Although four matches have been draws, Palace do come into this one on the six-game unbeaten run, so confidence should be high. They are at 12/5 to win inside 90 minutes and that might be a decent bet.

As for Watford, they were involved in one of the most dramatic play-off matches we have ever seen in the semi-final second leg against Leicester City as the Foxes had a last minute penalty – which would have put them through – saved, and then the Hornets went up the other end and booked their place at Wembley as Troy Deeney volleyed home.

Many now believe that Watford are destined for the Premier League after such a dramatic encounter, but Zola knows his team have a lot of work to do as they take on a very good Crystal Palace side.

At 7/5, the club from Vicarage Road are the favourites to come out on top here and if they are to win, Matej Vydra might need to put in another big performance.

Vydra’s form had taken a dip towards the end of the season, but he managed to score a brace in the semi-final, so comes into this one with his confidence reinstalled and he leads the way in terms of the first goal-scorer market as he is at 5/1.

Watford – much like Palace – play some cracking football and they are sure to come and attack here as they have known no other way all season. They must stick to their game plan and not let nerves get the better of them.

This is always one of the most eagerly anticipated matches of the season and if the Championship season is anything to go by, this will be a cracker.

Expect an electric atmosphere and plenty of entertainment from 3pm on Monday.
