Chelsea add two attacking assets to bid for Tottenham star

After having two bids rejected for Tottenham playmaker, Luka Modric, Chelsea are ready to offer Yossi Benayoun and Salomon Kalou as makeweights to bring him to Stamford Bridge.

Benayoun missed a large portion of last season due to injury but has performed well in pre-season,     forming an effective partnership with Fernando Torres.

Chelsea’s most recent bid for Modric was worth a reported £27m, but was turned down as Tottenham chairman, Daniel Levy, looks for a sum closer to his £35m valuation of his star playmaker.

Andre Villas-Boas is adamant to land the Croatian playmaker, as he seeks better creative supply for his frontmen, most notably Fernando Torres, who is still yet to unlock his full potential at the London club.

Kalou and Benayoun have both found their playing time restricted somewhat of late, and Spurs boss, Harry Redknapp, could be tempted by the deal, with his team struggling in the striking department recently.
