Chelsea boss gives backing to ‘new Drogba’ starlet

Andre Villas-Boas believes that new signing, Romelu Lukaku, can be as good as Didier Drogba at his new club, after completing his transfer from Anderlecht earlier this week.

33 year-old Drogba has been associated with a move away from the club, however is thought to be engaged in negotiations regarding a contract extension.

Belgian international, Lukaku, drew great praise during his time in Belgium, being compared to Drogba due to his similar stature and playing style.

The Chelsea manager noted: “He is tremendously powerful, very strong in the challenges. Despite his size, he has an explosiveness and an ability to react quickly which looks pretty amazing.”

Lukaku also commented on the comparison, saying: “We have similar playing styles, but I am also very fast. I want to learn from him how it is to play here at the Bridge and how to prepare for games.”
