Chelsea can confirm that Juan Mata has completed his transfer to Stamford Bridge from Valencia, signing a five-year contract.
The Spanish outfit accepted a fee of £23.5m late on Monday, and following a medical, the Spaniard has now completed the move.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Mata said: “Right from the first moment there have been good feelings all around me. Training has been great and the players are a great group to train with.”
The 23 year-old went on to add: “The plan is that I can play on either flank or even in the middle playing in between the lines of midfield and attack. I like to keep the ball and use it well, I am an attacking player and above all I like to set up goals and score them also.”
The wily winger admits that pairing up with Fernando Torres was a big draw, and added that he’s hoping for great success with his fellow World Cup winner.
Mata noted: “He said it would be good for me here and that me and him together could be good. I also talked to my family and friends about it as well.”
