According to media reports in Italy, AS Roma are to seal the deal for Chelsea forward Mohamed Salah very soon. The player has been linked with a move to the Italian club during this transfer window and the two clubs have been in talks in the past week.
The reports suggest this morning that Roma are looking to complete the deal very soon after claims yesterday an agreement was close between Chelsea and the Serie A club.
The Italian club’s sporting director Walter Sabatini has been working on a deal for the Egyptian to sign for the club but the stumbling block has been on the loan fee of the player. Chelsea have been holding out for €1.5m for the eighteen month loan deal with Roma having a right of redemption for €14m to €15m.
Roma only wanted to pay a €500k loan fee which Chelsea have now agreed to. The two clubs have compromised on the loan fee by increasing the right of redemption to €17m plus bonuses. That sounds like a very good deal for Chelsea indeed.
One big factor in the past couple of days is that Salah now has his heart set on joining Roma before the transfer deadline. The Chelsea star was unsure about the move and how his family would react to him uprooting them for the second time in twelve months.
As talks have progressed over the past few days Salah has bought into the project and he is now keen to head to Italy.
The Egyptian star has struggled to get regular games for Chelsea since arriving in January 2014 and yesterday he got a rare start for the team in the defeat to Bradford City.
