Chelsea defender admits they “lost their heads” verus QPR

Ashley Cole believes they deserved at least a point from the game at QPRChelsea and England left-back Ashley Cole has admitted that a few of team mates “lost their heads2 in their recent 1-0 loss against QPR at the weekend but also claims that decisions did not go their way.

Chelsea had both Didier Drogba and Jose Bosingwa sent off against QPR as well as having a further seven names – Cole included – go into the referee’s book.

The loss leaves Chelsea six points adrift of league leaders Manchester City whilst QPR now lie in tenth. Cole though feels that the Stamford Bridge side deserved at least a point for their efforts in the West London derby despite the sending’s off.

“It is always an uphill battle with 10 men, let alone nine men but we still played and we still created chances but unlucky enough for us we couldn’t do it, unfortunately the decisions didn’t go our way but we have to take the positives out of it. We stood firm, we had our chances to a least draw and the team battled well and that is what we want.”

“Of course we are disappointed that we lost against local rivals but we didn’t stop trying to win the game and I think we deserved a point at least.”

Cole also claims that the pitch at QPR and the club’s fans make it a difficult place to play and his yellow card now means he shall miss the midweek match against Everton but shall return for the next London derby, against Arsenal.

“It is a tight pitch (at QPR), the fans are good so we knew what we were coming into and it was probably a place to keep cool heads and maybe we lost a few but we want to take the positives out of it,”
