Chelsea defender completes Hamburg switch

Chelsea have announced that defender Slobodan Rajkovic has left the club to join Bundesliga side, Hamburg, on a four-year deal.

Rajkovic arrived at Stamford Bridge in 2007, but failed to make an impact during his time with the club and did not make a competitive first team start.

The youngster was loaned out several times during his four years in England to outfits such as PSV Eindhoven and FC Twente.

Frank Arnesen was Chelsea director but now works at Hamburg, and has proceeded to poach players he sees as valuable talent from his time with the English giants.

The German club have already signed the likes of Michael Mancienne, Jeffrey Bruma and Gokhan Tore, with Rajkovic the latest signing.

Hamburg boss, Michael Oenning, noted: “He is bringing a quality we do not have and we need right now. On top of that he is left footed.”
